what's included

The course gave me more confidence in myself as a creator.

NICOLE RIVERS

I have not been as active in my art practice as I would like. I had a lot of shame and fear around creating art because of the lapse of time— believing that old adage about losing what one does not use.

During this course I discovered that there was no truth in that belief system for me. My ability to create is innate.

SOPHIA K.

It helped me access a core part of myself I hadn’t touched in almost 40 years, and inspired collages that feel like visual poetry.

Doing this in a supportive, welcoming community—where everyone’s creativity inspired one another—was incredibly special.

This course gave me the space to rediscover who I am—visually—outside of work mode.

The Visual Voice collage course came at exactly the right time for me. I was feeling stuck in a creative slump at work.

ANN OLUGBILE

It gave me a safe, soft place to be me and reconnect with my essence. I embraced a part of me that thinks in pictures and symbolism. And that felt deeply affirming.

It's rare to find a space that prioritizes well-being and individuality over perfection. It's freeing, non-competitive, and a space for everyone to be honored and celebrated exactly where they were at.

Our Impact

Michaela's Story

I’m proud to be an artist

For a long time, my identity as an artist lived behind the scenes of my professional life.

Perhaps you recognize the pattern: prioritizing the needs of others over one's own desires. Blocked by societal expectations, and performing in professional spaces.

I suppressed my creative power for years, but even then, my artistry found ways to surface through dinner parties and presentations that were basically design projects.

In 2020, I decided it was time to shift.

I chose to unmask and let my creativity take up more space. It’s taken consistent effort, and it’s been the most meaningful thing I’ve done for myself.

If you’ve been feeling called to come home to yourself—to give yourself permission to prioritize play—I hope you’ll join me.

Visual Voice is a multi-week cohort-based creative professional development program that blends art history, a community-based studio practice, and group coaching with the creative medium of collage.

Shaped by the study of the visionary Black women artists, our worldbuilder series invites participants to detach from old narratives and tap into the power of imagination to reveal the life they most desire.

If you feel more connected to other people's expectations than your creative intuition, this course is for you.
